There are many of us who experience hardships of many kind. We often left feeling drained, emotionally hurt, wanting to escape and left with more growth that at times we wonder why we need so much of it. This blog today is dedicated to a good friend of mine named Laurel. For her, life is difficult at this moment and its understandable to feel the way she does. Today, I am going to provide points and a simple guide to help each of us establish a better foundation with our trials and a greater love for them. From my own personal experience life has been very difficult for me. For those of you who know you know that I am very silly even funny maybe. I learned to be that way when I was younger. Things were never easy, it was a constant battle with my Father. He never really treated me like his daughter he treated me as if I was hated or even despised. Even now, he treats me as so. Its hard and to be honest I wonder why it happened to me. To be honest, looking back I am very grateful for every challenge I had when I was younger. I don't hate my dad. He did in fact do many other things to our family. Luckily and fortunately he is now divorced and apparently getting married. He treats that family better than he treated his own flesh and blood. Its a little disappointed but there are a few things that I have learned that have helped me move forward and past the hurt, anger and hatred.
1: Read The Miracle of Forgiveness written by Spencer W. Kimball
This book has helped me overcome so much hurt, when we are willing to forgive ourselves for our own mistakes we are able to forgive others with a Christ like love and look at them as Christ would look at them.
2: Read the Book of Mormon
We always hear that reading the Book of Mormon helps us. I can testify that it is true. When read the Book of Mormon we are able to feel closer to the Lord and being closer to the Lord we are able to feel his love and with that love we can love those around us with a charity which is a pure and perfect love.
3: Be there.
The title of my post. Be there, it is very simple. Be there. No matter the trials that might be in your life at the moment look to help others. I have tried living this simple principle of service. I have always felt that when my life is hard that serving helps me have a better understanding that trials are meant for us to learn.
4: Attend the Temple
When we attend the Temple we feel the spirit and are able to have the spirit with us. We also escape the world and are able to be close to our Heavenly Father.
5: Read and understand why we have trials.
Many of us do not understand why we truly have trials. Some of us even fall away from the church. Gain a true testimony of trials. When we do that we are able to stand against the harsh winds.
6: Pray.
When we pray we are able to supplicate to the Father our needs. Don't just pray for you, pray for those around you who need help, as well as pray for those who have hurt you. Trust me, its hard but how wonderful it is to do it.
7: Positive Attitude
Yes, it is hard. Do it. It is hard to positive in such a trying time. But when we are positive we are able to have the spirit with us. And we are also able to spread joy around to those who need it more than we do.
8: Lastly, Live the gospel.
Living the gospel and doing what is right helps us overcome our trials. When we have a testimony of Christ we are able to stand against anything and are able to more righteously help those around us and forgive those around us.
These simple steps have helped me in my life. Recently I developed two simple motto's that have helped me move forward.
1: Can't control it, can't do anything about it.
2: Just let it go.
I truly believe that sometimes we need to just let things go. When we hold guilt or hurt against someone we are doing ourselves no good. Move forward with a perfect brightness of hope, with the love of God and with love for his children and things will start to get better.
Thank you so much Ana! I love you!
